Turkey extends deadline for national lottery tender

The transcontinental country extended the deadline by another four months.

Turkey.- According to the privatisation board, Turkey officially extended the deadline to submit applications for its national lottery tender by another four months. Gambling activities in Turkey are highly regulated as the country banned casinos in 1998 and non-state online gambling in 2006.

This new plan states that Turkey will collect bids in the tender until March 10, 2017. This extension is the second one of such kind in 2016, and applications for pre-qualification are due by February 10.

The previous auction for Turkey’s national lottery was held in 2014, and both the winner and runner-up companies failed to pay a winning prize of US$2.76 billion. Earlier this year the country formally advertised a new tender to privatise its national lottery. Its past attempts to privatize the lottery had been unsuccessful.

The official announcement that contained comments about the 10 year license from Turkey’s finance minister was published in the country’s Official Gazette publication.
